2.03 Main and Emergency Power
The primary power supply to the facility will be provided at 13.8 KV, 3-phase, 60Hz. The underground cables will be laid from SEC primary substation to a substation within site premises. These 13.8 KV cables will be provided by SEC as part of their scope of work. The SEC Metered Ring Main Unit will be located in a dedicated SEC room. 13.8KV power cable will be distributed to two indoor transformers located inside the substation buildings. 13.8 KV power distribution will be in loop configuration for more reliability of power. Secondary power distribution shall be 380V, 3 phase, 60 Hz.
2.04 Low Voltage Power Distribution
Lighting indoor : | 220 Volts, single phase. |
Lighting outdoor: | 220 Volts |
General purpose power outlets: | 220 Volts (via GFCI where applicable, e.g. workshop, laboratory etc.) |
Special purpose outlets: | As required |
Equipment: | 220 Volts, 380 Volts, three phase or as required. |
Motors 1 HP and below (1 phase): | 220 Volts, 1-Phase |
Motors above 5 HP: | 380 volts, 3 phase. |
For motors above 7.5 KW. | 380 volts, 3 phase Soft starters. Variable speed drive where economically or technically applicable. |
2.05 Motor Control Centers
Motor Control Centers (MCC) will be provided wherever required for the control of motors. These will be provided for motors which do not have their own control panels and these will meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Main Isolating Switch for disconnection where applicable, e.g. for maintenance etc.
2. Circuit breakers on each circuit.
3. Motor Starters full voltage, star delta, or autotransformer type as required..
4. Soft starters for less than 7.5kW motors (Note: Soft starters will not be provided for Variable speed control motors).
5. Necessary controls and interlockings.
6. Measuring devices.
7. Indicators and lamp test arrangement.
8. Terminal blocks.
9. Breakers and starters shall be rated according to requirement.
10. Free standing or wall mounted metal sheet enclosure.
2.06 Illumination Design
Illumination design shall be carried out in keeping with modern energy conservation measures, and the recommendations of Illumination Engineering Society (IES), some of which are mentioned hereunder:
· OFFICES: | 500 LUX |
· LIBRARY / READING AREA: | 500 LUX |
· HIGH BAY STORAGE: | 250 LUX |
· MECHANICAL / ELECTRICAL ROOMS: | 300 LUX |
· MEETING ROOMS: | 500 LUX |
· MULTIPURPOSE ROOMS: | 500 LUX |
· ENTRANCES / CORRIDORS: | 150 - 200 LUX |
· TOILETS: | 150 LUX |
· PARKING AREAS (OPEN): | 10 LUX |
· STORAGE: | 150 LUX |
|
|
The method of calculation used will include the Lumen Method for determination of average illuminance from a regular array of luminaires, or the Point Source (Linear Source) Method for determination of the illuminance at a specific point(s) from individual luminaires. The illumination level calculation shall be provided for selected typical areas.
The lighting for the project will be designed to a connected load not to exceed 30 watt/gross square meter. The lighting will include incandescent, fluorescent, and low voltage halogen light sources. Any direct lighting (e.g. down lights) will be well shielded and glare free from normal viewing angles. Special attention will be given to the lighting of object of arts.
Emergency lighting shall also be provided in designated areas.
