A.     PURPOSE

The purpose of generating this Method Statement is to define the procedure step by step to implement the correct practices for Installation, Pressure Testing & Insulation of Chilled Water Piping including valves and accessories through the guide line contained herein so as to ensure that the job execution complies with the requirements and serves the intended function to a satisfactory level.

B.     SCOPE

This Method Statement refers to various work procedures contained within project control documents, which explains and covers the Installation, Pressure Testing & Insulation of Chilled Water Piping including valves and accessories.

   E.  RESPONSIBILITIES

    E.1 Construction Manager:

Responsibilities are to ensure the full implementation of this method of statement and identify the requirements and add on resources for the effective accomplishment of the activity and directly supervise by leading a team. Site engineers, HVAC supervisors on the execution and conformance of this procedure and to ensure that all site work is achieve in a timely manner and on time and comply with all standards and specifications requirements.

   E.2 QA-QC Manager:

 Is responsible for coordinating the management of the project quality plan including subcontractor if available. For successfully deliver the project. The QA-QC manager report to the project director and responsible for. Ensuring project plan system and procedure are established. Ensuring quality management requirements are incorporate into project control, design, procurement, and construction and commissioning.

E.3 SiteEngineer

 METHOD STATEMENT  FOR CHILLED WATER PIPING PART 1

The Site Engineer & Safety Advisor will ensure that all necessary safety and protective equipment’s are provided along with the properly trained and qualified personnel.

The Work Method Statement procedure isto be followedandmust observe any hold points noted on the HVACMEPTIP and notify HVACMEPPID for inspection.

 

Only trained and competent peopleare to be involved in the activities and use any of the equipment mentioned in the Method Statement.

 

The workers safety is of prime concern at delapre cautions will betak to minimize the safety risks involved in every activity.

.

     E.4 HVAC Supervisor:

 

Ensure full compliance by all mechanical foremen, millwright, fetters, riggers and labor regarding execution of the work in accordance with . HVACMEP STANDARD project requirements and specifications. Confirm the availability of all materials, tools, equipment, and required personnel who will carry out the work.  Conduct brief meeting with all personnel involved in the installation of equipment.

     E.5 Quality Control Inspector:

The QC-Inspector shall be responsible for the implementation of the quality procedures for this particular job. His responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Monitors daily activities, checks and assures that equipment installation activity is in compliance with the approve standards specification. Initiates RFI after verification for the required inspection. Notifies the construction supervisor and QA-QC manager on corrective action that has to be taken. Coordinates with required personnel for the required testing on this work. Responsible for the preparation and submittal of the QC documentation.

     E.6 Safety Supervisor:

Check the work areas for any unsafe conditions. Ensure that all safety requirements have been adequately addressed and the work shall be carried out in accordance with . HVACMEP G.I-0002.102 project safety procedures. Ensure that the tools and equipment to be used. 

      E.7 Engineering Department:

Generate relevant documents from manufacturer or vendor and the method statements for each individual test and installation procedure, preservation in accordance with the manufacturer instruction procedure.   

    F.  TOOLS / EQUIPMENT

F.1 Fork Lift or Crane with capacity & arrangement in line with the Manufacturer’s recommendations, pallet mover and as required at site.
F.2 Hydraulic Trolley

F.4. Portable Drilling Machine/ Grinding Machine & Angle Cutter.
F.5. Spirit Level / Level Threads
F.6. Step Ladder

F.7. Scaffolding with platform.

    G . MATERIALS

Chilled Water Piping and accessories shall be in line with the approved material submittal.
* Pipes:

Carbon Steel Pipes – 50 mm and smaller (ASTM A 53-90b, Sch-40, Grade A or B) Threaded Ends

Carbon Steel Pipes – 65 mm and larger (ASTM A 53, SCH 40, Grade A) Butt welded ends.
* Fittings:


Threaded Fittings – 50 mm and smaller ″ (ASMEB 16.3) black malleable iron screwed
Butt Welded Fittings – 65mm and larger (ASME B 16.9) butt welding wrought iron fittings.
* Valves:
Up to 50 mm: Thread ends
65 mm and above: Flanged ends
* Accessories:
Pressure gauges, thermometer, test points, air vents, etc.

     H. MATERIAL HANDLING & STORAGE

On receipt of the Chilled Water Pipe and accessories at site, necessary precautions shall be taken for unloading, shifting & storage, as follows:-

H.1 all materials received at site shall be inspected by consultant’s representative and to ensure that the materials are as per approved material submittals in terms of their make, model type, country of origin and capacity. Pipes must not be red oxide painted if not inspected by the consultant.

H.2 All material while unloading shall not be dropped, but lowered to the ground.

H.3 Pipes shall be stacked on a flat surface with adequate supports.

H.4 while stacking, it shall be ensured that pipes of larger sizes are placed below and smaller sizes on top.

H.5 Stacked pipes will be protected by covering with tarpaulin sheet.

H.6 All other items such as valves, fittings, gauges, etc. shall be kept on racks within site stores and shall be segregated based on size, model, type etc. for easy retrieval.

H.7 Pipe insulation shall be stored in manufacturer’s packing in site stores.

H.8 Insulation material shall be segregated as per size, thickness for easy retrieval.

H.9 The adhesive material shall be stored in a covered and ventilated storage area.

H.10 all supporting materials shall be stored in a covered storage area, segregated according to size, type, model, etc. for easy retrieval.

H.11 any items found damaged or not suitable as per project requirements shall be removed from site. If required to store temporarily, they shall be clearly marked and stored separately to prevent any inadvertent use.
